Rental Guidelines & Regulations
Rentals are available exclusively to manyworld members and rates vary depending on monthly membership dues. To become a member, click here. We also accept proposals from members who have ideas for manyworld official programming. Organizations may use the space for single or recurring meetings and events, provided at least one person in the organization is a member. If your organization is interested in renting the space, please contact us at info@manyworld.diy.
Rates & Discounts
Membership under $50/mo: $30 per hour
Membership over $50+/mo: $25 per hour
$5/hour discount for events requiring masks (must provide your own)
Organizations: $60 for two hours (minimum). Each additional hour is $20 each.
Rental Requests & Scheduling
Rental requests are for members using their rental privileges to host something in the space. For this type of event, the member has total control and keeps 100% of any cover or donations. The event is listed on the manyworld calendar, but is completely run and promoted by the member. An example of this type of event is a member who would like to host a book talk featuring a specific author on a specific day and keep all of the proceeds. A manyworld volunteer will still be on premises at the event itself.
Rental requests are accepted up to three months in advance and must be submitted at least three weeks before your desired event date. Requests are reviewed and approved based on availability and alignment with manyworld’s mission. Scheduling is handled on a first-come, first-served basis, although priority may be given to events that are public-facing or particularly aligned with our community goals.
Once your request is approved, organizers will confirm logistics and expectations around promotion, setup, accessibility, and compliance with all manyworld policies. You’ll receive a Space Use Contract that must be signed by the person who will be present and responsible for the rental. Contracts are non-transferable and subletting is not allowed. For public events, we may ask to review promotional materials before they go out.
While we do our best to accommodate a wide range of programming, space and capacity are limited, and not all requests can be accepted. If the desired time is not available, we may suggest alternate dates. We are committed to transparent communication and welcome resubmissions or future requests.
Program Proposals
Program proposals are for members who have an idea for something they’d like to see or do in the space and want help making it happen. This type of event is co-produced by our volunteers, who will help promote, run, and shape the event. The member doesn’t have to pay a rental fee, but will split any cover or donations 50/50. An example of this type of event is a member who wants to lead a skillshare but doesn’t want to develop and run the event itself. These events are considered part of the official programming under the umbrella of “manyworld Presents.” To propose an event, email info@manyworld.diy.
Manyworld Presents events are curated by our volunteers based on our capacity and needs. If your proposal is not accepted, you are welcome to resubmit at a later date or rent the space and host the event yourself!
Payment Methods
Rental fees may be paid via cash (preferred), card, or Venmo. One half of the rate must be paid upon reservation and the other half may be paid on the day of the event.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellations made at least one week (7 days) in advance are eligible for a full refund of any deposit paid.
Cancellations made with less than one week’s notice are not eligible for a deposit refund except in cases of illness or emergency, at the discretion of manyworld leadership.
To cancel your event, please contact membership@manyworld.diy. Any refunds will be issued within three (3) days.
Setup & Decorations
All setup and decorating must happen within your rental time. Please do not move or adjust any art or gallery installations; violations may result in losing your deposit. To protect the space, avoid using nails, staples, tacks, or heavy-duty tape on walls or surfaces. Any damage from these will be charged to the renter.
For safety, no open flames (like candles) or other flammable materials are allowed and exits, stairways, and doors must stay clear at all times. To keep things tidy, messy products such as silly string, bubbles, loose glitter, or confetti are prohibited inside and in the parking lot.
Banners may be attached to the outside of the building with prior approval, and renters are welcome to use the manyworld sandwich board for signage.
At the Event
A manyworld volunteer will be assigned as building monitor during your rental. They’re there to support your event and make sure things run smoothly and safely. The monitor has the authority to request changes or, if necessary, stop activities that aren’t safe or don’t follow these guidelines.
As the main contact and organizer, you agree to ensure that your guests follow all manyworld rules and policies, including the Code of Conduct and accessibility policies. The manyworld volunteer may assist you if needed, but this is primarily your responsibility and should be treated as such. Repeated failure to uphold these policies may impact your ability to book future events.
Noise/Curfew
Please be respectful of our neighbors and don’t scream, yell, or hang out loudly outside the space (especially at night). Doors should remain closed during louder events and all amplified sound must be kept at a reasonable level. We have a 10 PM curfew; all sound should stop by then and the event should be wrapping up, with guests heading out soon after.
Weapons, Substances & Smoking
To maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all, weapons of any kind are not allowed on manyworld premises. This includes firearms, combat knives, and any other items intended or used as weapons.
Manyworld is a substance-free space by default. The use or possession of drugs or open containers of alcohol is not permitted during public or all-ages events. Alcohol may be allowed at private, 21+ events only with prior approval, and organizers are responsible for complying with all applicable laws and licensing requirements. Any violation of these policies may result in removal from the space and/or loss of access to future rentals or events.
Smoking and vaping may only take place in the back parking lot, although it is strongly discouraged. Weed use is not permitted on premises. Absolutely no smoking or littering in the garden—if this rule is not respected, smoking will be banned.
Teardown & Cleaning
Cleaning must also happen within your rental time. Renters are responsible for returning the space to its original condition (or better!). A cleaning checklist will be provided to help ensure nothing is missed. After your event, please:
Sweep or vacuum as needed
Wipe down surfaces
Return furniture and equipment to their original locations
Take out all trash and recycling, moving it to the outdoor receptacles
Check bathrooms for cleanliness
We provide a limited number of cleaning supplies and trash/recycling bins. Renters are responsible for any additional bins needed for their event. Any food, drinks, or other items left behind will be disposed of.
If cleaning responsibilities are neglected, renters may be charged a cleaning fee of $25 or risk losing future access to the space. Repeated failure to comply may result in suspension of rental privileges. If you are unsure about expectations or need help with cleanup due to accessibility concerns or an emergency, please reach out!
Responsibility & Liability
By renting the space, you will agree to take responsibility for what happens during your event. This includes your guests, performers, volunteers, contractors, or anyone helping you out. Manyworld is not responsible for any injury, loss, or damage to personal property during your rental.
